Solastor is a privately owned Australian company that develops large scale renewable energy projects around the world. Its innovative Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) system utilises patented graphite storage technology that harnesses the power of the sun to produce reliable and affordable baseload energy.
This Australian developed solar technology can currently generate electricity at a lower cost than other renewable energy systems using either integrated or add-on storage capabilities for a 24 hour period – even when the sun isn’t shining. The Solastor System can also provide affordable energy to manufacturing, mining and industrial projects based in locations where there is no access to reliable energy.
The Solastor System stores and produces solar energy on demand. Its cost efficiencies come from using solar collectors (toroidal heliostats) which are almost twice as efficient as other types of heliostats. These lower capital costs translate to lower electricity production costs.
The technology used in the Solastor System is patented by Graphite Solar Power Pty Ltd (GSP). In 2009 GSP through its licensing company, Graphite Solar Power Licensing, granted Solastor a fifty year, worldwide, non-exclusive Commercial Licence to exploit the technology.
As a Commercial Licensee, Solastor is empowered to issue project licences to organisations wanting to utilise the GSP Technology. The terms and conditions of the licence are agreed on a project by project basis between Solastor and the project owner.
